1. Our Philosophy

FAFO is designed for the things you'd never say out loud. That means privacy isn't a feature we bolt on — it's the foundation everything is built on.

We believe you should be able to explore decisions honestly without fear of judgment, exposure, or data exploitation. If you can't be honest with the app, the app can't help you.

2. What We Collect

When you use FAFO, we store:

Account information — Your email address, display name, and hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.

Your confessions and forecasts — The text you submit and the AI-generated forecast responses, including your FAFO Score, tone selection, and category.

Preferences — Your default tone mode, theme preference (light/dark), and onboarding status.

Push notification tokens — If you opt in, we store your device token to send notifications. You can revoke this at any time.

3. What We Don't Do

✗ We don't create a public profile or feed for you

4. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to:

Generate your AI-powered consequence forecasts
Maintain your history, saved items, and preferences
Authenticate your account and keep it secure
Send you push notifications (only if you opted in)

5. AI Processing

When you submit a confession, your text is sent to a third-party AI provider (currently Anthropic via Abacus AI) to generate your forecast. This is a stateless API call — the AI provider does not store your input or use it for training.

Your confession text is processed in real-time and the AI response is stored in our database associated with your account. If you delete the forecast, the data is permanently removed from our systems.

6. Voice Data

If you use the voice input feature, your audio is sent to a third-party transcription service (Deepgram) for real-time speech-to-text conversion. Audio is processed in memory and is not stored by us or the transcription provider. Only the resulting text transcription is retained as part of your confession.

7. Your Controls

You have full control over your data at all times:

Clear All History — Permanently delete all your past forecasts in one action.

Clear All Saved — Remove all bookmarked forecasts instantly.

Delete All My Data — The nuclear option. Permanently wipes all your history, saved items, sessions, and associated data. Your account remains but everything else is gone.

8. Data Storage & Security

• Your data is stored in a secured PostgreSQL database with encrypted connections.
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
• Authentication tokens are stored using platform-native secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore).
• All API communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit.

9. Third-Party Services

FAFO uses the following third-party services to function:

10. Children's Privacy

FAFO is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify you through the app. Your continued use of FAFO after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
